Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to our FAQ page. Whether you're a family seeking exceptional childcare or a professional nanny looking for your next placement, we're here to answer your most common questions.
👪 For Families
1. How do I start the process of hiring a nanny?
Simply fill out our family registration form or contact us directly. We’ll schedule a consultation to understand your needs and explain how we work. After that, we’ll send you our Terms & Conditions along with a breakdown of our fees for your review. Once confirmed, we’ll begin the search and introduce you to carefully selected nannies.
2. What types of nannies do you place?
We place full-time, part-time, live-in, live-out, temporary, and holiday nannies. We also work with maternity nurses, nanny-housekeepers, and other domestic staff, including private chefs, chef-housekeepers, house managers, and tutors.
3. Are your nannies vetted?
Yes. All our nannies go through a thorough screening process, including an enhanced DBS check, reference verification, and identity confirmation. We conduct video interviews with every candidate, and in many cases, the nannies are personally known to us through long-standing professional relationships.
4. How long does it take to find a nanny?
On average, the process takes between 1 to 4 weeks. However, this can vary depending on your specific requirements — including location, working hours, salary, and the type of nanny you’re looking for. In some cases, it may take longer.
We strongly recommend starting your search at least 2 months in advance to allow time for a proper match, without pressure. This helps avoid rushing the process or settling for a candidate who isn’t the right fit simply due to time constraints.
5. What happens if the nanny doesn’t work out?
We offer a 12-week replacement guarantee. If things don’t work out within this time, we’ll provide free replacements and, in some cases, partial refunds depending on when the engagement ends.
For full details, please see our Terms & Conditions or get in touch — we're happy to walk you through the process.
6. What are your agency fees?
Our fees are based on the type and length of placement. For permanent positions, our standard fee is 8 weeks of the nanny’s net salary.
We believe in transparent pricing, and there are no hidden charges. You can find full details on our Fees & Refund Policy, or feel free to contact us for a personalised quote.
7. Do you help with nanny contracts?
Yes, we provide guidance and templates to help you set up a legally sound employment contract between you and your nanny.
🧸 For Nannies
1. How do I register with Elisa’s London Nannies
To register, simply submit your CV or complete our nanny registration form. If your profile meets our standards, we’ll be in touch to discuss the next steps.
2. Do I need a DBS check and First Aid certification?
Yes. All applicants must hold an enhanced DBS certificate and a valid Paediatric First Aid qualification, or be willing to renew or obtain these before starting a placement.
3. What experience do I need to apply?
We require a minimum of 2 years’ professional childcare experience and aim to obtain at least two recent, checkable references where reasonably possible.
In cases where a candidate has worked long-term for a single family or previous employers are not contactable (for example, due to relocation abroad), we may accept one reference.
4. Do you charge nannies a fee?
No, our services are completely free for nannies.
5. Can I apply for temporary or part-time positions?
Absolutely. We place nannies in full-time, part-time, live-in, live-out, and temporary roles.
6. Will you help me prepare for interviews?
Yes, we support you throughout the process with interview tips, CV advice, and contract guidance. We also offer professional CV writing services to help you present your experience in the best possible way.
