Types of nannies we offer and their salary ranges:

Live out nannies

Full time live out nannies typically work set times, for example from 8:30am to 6:30pm, between 40 to 50 hours per week. They arrive each morning and leave in the evening. Some live out nannies may also travel with families.

Salary for a live out nanny ranges from £12 to £16 an hour net depending on family requirements and the nanny's qualifications and experience.

Live in nannies

Full time live in nannies typically work between 10 – 12 hours a day with free weekends if working longer hours, including a night or two a week babysitting for an average salary of £500 net per week. Live in nannies rates for experienced nannies working abroad are higher, from about £750 to over £1000 net per week. The employer provides the live in nanny with accommodation and food on top of their salary. It is helpful if the room is somehow separate from the rest of the house.

Bilingual nannies

Bilingual nannies are very popular, especially in London. This is because many children grow up in bilingual families and parents are looking for bilingual or multilingual nannies who can support raising their children in their mother tongue language, learn about a new culture, a different way of life, to be open minded and exposed to a second language from early years. Research says that children that are taught a second language before the age of 10 are more likely to achieve fluency in later years.

After school nannies

After school nannies are a perfect solution for working parents who need help with childcare for that extra few hours in the afternoons. They can work from 3 to 6 hours a day and sometimes can also work longer hours during half terms and school holidays. They are in high demand and their hourly rate is higher than a full time nanny with an average of £15 an hour net.

Rota nannies

Rota nannies are very popular amongst UHNW and VIP families with demanding schedules and busy lifestyles, who require continuous and dependable childcare cover on a 24/7 basis. Rota nannies work on a rota system. For example; the family usually employs at least two nannies, one nanny works one week and has the next week off when a second nanny takes over and covers the second week and so on. Rota nannies often work on two weeks’ on and two weeks’ off rota basis. These high profile families who are very well off and pay high salaries are often looking for candidates with more specific skills or further qualifications. The candidates’ benefits include travelling with the family and working in fully staffed households. The salary of a rota nanny ranges from £700 + net per week in London and outside the UK from between £700 to £1500 net per week.

Nanny housekeepers

Nanny housekeepers can be live in or live out and split their duties between childcare and housekeeping. The split between the two roles will depend on the percentage of responsibility they have. For example, the split may be 50/50 or different depending on the family’s needs. They may be responsible for all nursery duties and while the children are at school may be responsible for general housekeeping; cleaning, tidying up, ironing, cooking for the family and PA duties such as shopping, picking up dry cleaning, dealing with deliveries and so on depending on family’s specific requirements.

Weekend nannies

Weekend nannies can be employed on a temporary or permanent basis. Weekend nannies may work the whole weekend from Friday evening to Monday morning, one full day on Saturday or Sunday or just a few hours at the weekend. Some parents may only choose to hire a temporary nanny at certain times during the year or a few weekends to give them the support they need. Many parents with 4 or more children require a weekend nanny to help out at busy times. Their fee is similar to a daily nanny’s. If they stay overnight they get extra for the night. The overnight fee will depend on the ages and the number of children they have to attend to.

Special Needs nannies

Are experienced in looking after children with additional needs. They sometimes learn how to support the individual child or children while working with them by following guidance from the specialists or parents or are individuals who come with specific training and experience. Their rates are usually higher because they need additional skills to support the family.

Holiday nannies

A travelling nanny travels with a family on their vacation and helps to look after the children. They are usually hired specifically to help on a single trip. Travelling nannies’ duties may be to support the children’s daily routines, play with them, take them to activities such as skiing or swimming, tidy up children’s areas, prepare a meal or a snack and babysit in the evenings. Travelling nannies can be booked for any length of time from one week to the entire summer holiday. They can be available for a few hours a day or up to 12 hours a day. They are entitled to one day off per week, and 2 days off on longer holidays lasting a couple of weeks. The daily rate for a travelling nanny ranges from £130 to £190 per day depending on the number of children they are looking after and the number of hours they work. The family also covers travel, accommodation and food expenses on top of the daily rate.

Night nannies

Night nannies attend to the children during the night. A night nanny normally works with children ages from newborn to one year old but can work with older children up to five years old. A night nanny can support parents with all aspects of the baby’s needs during the night including feeding, changing nappies, settling the baby, preparing and sterilising bottles and dressing in the morning. They can also help build sleep routines and good sleep habits respectful of parents’ wishes. Night nannies can sleep in the same room as the baby or in another room with a baby monitor. A night nanny normally works between one to seven nights a week from 10 to 12 hours a night. For example, they will start at 9pm and finish at 7am. Our night nannies are qualified in maternity nursing, midwife nursing, sleep training courses or early child development courses and hold valid Paediatric First Aid. Hourly rate is usually higher than that of a daily nanny because a night nanny is an expert in their field. Night nannies charge between £14 to £20 an hour gross, depending on a number of children they are attending to and their experience.

 Norland Nannies

are educated at Norland College which is a British higher education provider based in Bath, Somerset. The college specialises in childcare and is widely known for its prestigious training of nannies, nursery nurses and other childcare professionals. It was founded in 1892 by Emily Ward who believed in affectionate care which focused on the needs of the child and wanted to train nannies that would devote themselves to their charges. Norland nannies are extremely popular amongst celebrities and royals. Their rates are usually higher to reflect the level of their qualifications.
